Créé en 1967
La MBA a été créé en 1967 en tant qu’association de banques commerciales autorisées à exercer des activités bancaires à Maurice. Ses membres fondateurs étaient les cinq banques suivantes : Bank of Baroda, Barclays Bank D.C.O., Habib Bank (Overseas) Limited, The Mauritius Commercial Bank Ltd et The Mercantile Bank Ltd.
