Mauritius Finance convened its members last week for a Budget Breakfast session on the implications of the 2026-2027 Budget for the financial services sector — held in preparation for an upcoming conference jointly organised by Mauritius Finance, CFA Society Mauritius, STEP Mauritius, IFA Mauritius, and the Mauritius Bankers Association, positioning Mauritius as a strategic hub for investment into Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
Daniel Essoo, CEO of the Mauritius Bankers Association, welcomed the reforms announced to modernise the banking framework, while the sector’s competitiveness as Mauritian banks face a heavier fiscal environment amid intensifying competition from other regional financial hubs in Asia and the Middle East.
The session reflected a shared industry priority: ensuring regulatory and fiscal developments strengthen, rather than undermine, Mauritius’s positioning as a competitive hub for cross-border investment — a theme set to feature at the upcoming joint conference.
