Communiqué: Skimming

Friday 2 August 2024: The MBA has taken note of reports of skimming devices found on a limited number of ATMs. These cases were rapidly detected and promptly referred to the police, and suspects have been arrested. Cards which were potentially affected have been deactivated, and are being replaced.

The public is advised to exercise caution, and to immediately report any suspicious occurrence to their bank.

NB: Skimming is a type of fraud where bank card data is captured by an electronic device, usually attached to an ATM.
