The Mauritius Bankers Association organised an Award Ceremony on Wednesday 30 March 2016 for the 12 awardees from the first batch of candidates from Member banks, the Bank of Mauritius and the MBA who sat for the examinations for the Professional Banker Certificate (PBC) delivered by the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland (CIOBS).
In attendance to hand over the certificates was the Guest of Honour, His Excellency, the British High Commissioner, Mr. Jonathan Drew. Also in attendance were: The immediate past MBA Chairman, Mr. Alastair Bryce, Mr. Ravneet Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer of Bank One Limited, Mr. Matthieu Mandeng, Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank (Mauritius) Limited and Mrs. Aisha Timol, MBA Chief Executive.
In his Speech, the British High Commissioner commended the MBA on the partnership established with CIOBS and the British Council and highlighted that “CIOBS encourages the highest standards of professionalism and conduct among its members in the public interest”. The immediate past Chairman of the MBA explained how the PBC is a benchmark qualification for those starting in the banking industry as well as those already working in banking institutions and who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills. The MBA Chief Executive mentioned that the next step would be the launch of the Professional Banker Diploma.
